Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, wanted in India, was seen with people of terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan. According to India Today, Zakir had attended an event at Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. There he gave a speech to a crowd of about 1.5 lakh people. During this, he was seen with Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Muzammil Iqbal Hashmi, Muhammad Haris Dhar and Faisal Nadeem.

America has declared these three as international terrorists since 2008. After this meeting, Faisal Nadeem and Muzammil Hashmi also ran an online campaign to promote Zakir's visit.

After initial investigation, India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) had registered a case against him under UAPA and other sections in 2016. After this he fled from India to Saudi Arabia. From there he went to Malaysia and has been living there since then. There, the then Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohammad provided him government protection.

Zakir Naik has been absconding for 8 years In 2017, Mumbai's NIA court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Naik. After this, in 2019, the Special Court of Mumbai also issued non-bailable warrant against him. ED had registered a money laundering case against him.

Several irregularities were found during the investigation by Zakir Naik's NGO Islamic Research Foundation (IRF). Investigation also found that Naik had registered many fake companies. The Indian Home Ministry had banned IRF in November 2016.

Even before fleeing India, Zakir Naik had been in controversies. He said in July 2008 that Al Qaeda was not responsible for the attack on America's World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
