Bhubaneswar. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the state is emerging as a major player in the chemical and petrochemical sector due to increasing demand from industries like steel and aluminium. According to an official statement, Majhi said at the 'India Chem 2024' conference held in Mumbai that the Paradip-based PCPIR (Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region) is taking forward Odisha's ambitions in this sector. He said that this industrial hub, strategically located near Paradip Port, integrates a strong supply chain and connects industries to global markets.

The Chief Minister said that the chemical and petrochemical sector in Odisha is poised for rapid growth. “Along with this, we are also diversifying into high potential areas,” he said. Majhi said the state is also actively promoting investments in recycling of technical textiles and by-products, plastics and packaging and specialty chemicals. The demand for these products is increasing in domestic and international markets. Majhi said these opportunities are supported by Odisha's rich natural resources, extensive connectivity and strong industrial ecology, making it an attractive destination for new investments.
