A young man named Tanveer Ahmed set fire to the bodies of his sleeping wife and mother-in-law, enraged by the news of divorce in Kaliakore, Gazipur. Wife Morsheda Begum died at 10 am on Thursday and mother-in-law Fuljan Begum died at 8 pm on the same day while undergoing treatment in the hospital due to burns.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliakair police station Riyad Mahmud confirmed this information on Thursday (October 17) night. The deceased Morsheda Begum (22) is the daughter of Mukul Ali of Lakshipura area of ​​Sadar police station of Natore district.

The husband set fire to the body of his wife and mother-in-law in the Ratanpur area of ​​the upazila on Wednesday midnight and escaped from outside the house by locking the door.

According to locals and police, Morsheda Begum, daughter of Mukul Ali of Lakshipura area of ​​Natore Sadar, got married to Tanveer Ahmed of Sadar area of ​​Ghatail upazila of Tangail five years ago. They did not do any work as husband and wife. Mother Fuljan Begum worked in a garment factory. Due to his work, the mother and daughter used to live on rent in a house in Ratanpur area of ​​the upazila.

Tanveer did not stay with them for several months due to a family dispute. In the meantime, his wife divorced him. After getting the news of divorce, Tanveer went to that house last Wednesday night and set fire to the sleeping wife and mother-in-law through the window of the house. At this time, so that they could not leave the house, they ran away from the outside of the house by closing the door.

People around came forward with mother-daughter screams. They were rescued and taken to Dhaka's Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where the doctor on duty declared Morsheda Begum dead. Fuljan Begum was admitted to that hospital. Later he also died.

Ratanpur area. They lived in Parvez's house on rent. The owner of that house. Parvez said, we live on the third floor, they live in a tinshade room. After hearing the screams, I saw that two people were burnt. Later they were rescued and sent to Dhaka. Morsheda kept shouting while being burnt, 'My husband set the fire. You save my mother.'

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliakair police station Riyad Mahmud said that Morsheda Begum died of burns on Thursday morning and her mother Fuljan Begum died while undergoing treatment at the same hospital at 8 pm.

Initially, it is believed that the incident took place due to a family dispute. The husband poured petrol on his wife and mother-in-law and fled. Efforts are underway to arrest him. According to the hospital doctors, 65 percent of Fuljan Begum's body was burnt. Legal action is being taken in this regard.
