On this, the Supreme Court ordered to close the hearing on the habeas corpus petition filed by the father of both the women. However, the Supreme Court said that this case will not have any impact on other cases pending against Isha Yoga Centre. In its decision, the court advised Isha Yoga Center and said that when there are women and minor children in your ashram, then you need to constitute an internal complaint committee. The court said that the purpose of this advice is not to defame any organization but only to tell that some things should be kept in mind.

what is the matter

Retired professor S Kamaraj had filed a petition in the Madras High Court against Isha Yoga Centre. In this petition, S Kamaraj had alleged that his daughters have been kept hostage in the ashram. After this, the High Court had sought information about all the criminal cases related to Isha Foundation. On October 1, 2024, a large number of policemen reached the headquarters of the Foundation and conducted a search operation. Isha Yoga Center had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court. Where now the Supreme Court, while giving relief to Isha Yoga Center, ordered to stop the hearing on the habeas corpus petition.

In its decision, the Supreme Court accepted that both the women were living in the ashram of their own free will and no coercion was being done to them. The police also said the same thing in their affidavit. The court said that women are adults and have the right to decide where they want to live.
