Pakistan Rape Student Protest Situation Photo Update | Punjab | Students on the streets against college rape in Pakistan: 380 people arrested, schools and colleges closed; Police arrested a guard

Enraged students pelted stones at police and set arson in Rawalpindi.

In Punjab, Pakistan, orders have been given to close all schools and colleges amid student protests. Student agitation has erupted in Pakistan after allegations of rape of a student in the campus of Punjab College for Women. Punjab is the most populous region of Pakistan.

Now the Home Department of Punjab province has also banned the gathering of people on Friday and Saturday. The closure of schools and colleges will affect the education of about 2.6 crore children and college students in Punjab province.

Rawalpindi Police say 380 people have been arrested on charges of vandalism and arson during protests in the city on Thursday. Police will identify the students who committed arson from the photos/videos available on social media.

Student demonstrations have now spread from different colleges of Lahore to cities like Rawalpindi. The police fired tear gas shells and also resorted to lathicharge on the protests taking place in Rawalpindi.

Police arrested the guard The student protests began last week after a post went viral on social media. There was news in the viral post that a student was raped in the campus of Punjab College for Women.

The police had also arrested a security guard seen in this social media post. But no victim has come forward so far and police have not been able to confirm the allegations.

On the matter, Lahore Director of Punjab Group of Colleges, Arif Chaudhary says that if this incident proves to be true, I will resign and stand with the students. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that those who are spreading false news on social media will be punished.
