Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the attack on Israel on October 7 last year, has died in an Israeli attack. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Katz confirmed Sinwar's death on Thursday night. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) attacked a building in central Gaza in a routine operation a day earlier on Wednesday.
There was news of the killing of 3 Hamas members. Later it was revealed that one of them was Yahya Sinwar. Its photos went viral on social media. In this, it was claimed from his face, teeth and watch that the killed person was Yahya Sinwar.
Actually, the reason for the war between Israel and Hamas was the October 7 attack, in which 1200 Israeli civilians were killed. Since then the war between the two continues.
DNA test done to confirm death
DNA test was conducted to investigate Sinwar's death. Even before this, Israel had made several attempts to kill Sinwar. However, he faced failure. There were claims earlier also regarding his death. Sinwar's death was also claimed on 23 September.
On social media, people were comparing the teeth of the dead body and its watch and claiming that the murdered person was Sinwar.
Netanyahu said – Sinwar has been killed but the war is still going on
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement after Sinwar's death. He said,
Israel has settled its accounts against the perpetrators of the biggest massacre of our people in history after the Holocaust. The moment of Sinwar's death is crucial for bringing our hostage citizens back home. However, the war is not over yet. Any Hamas fighter who lays down his arms and helps in the return of hostages will be allowed to leave Gaza safely.
Former Hamas chief Haniyeh was killed 78 days ago
Former Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran on July 31. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed his death. IRGC had said that Haniyeh's hideout in Tehran was attacked with a missile at 2 am (4 am Indian time). Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards died in this.

Born in refugee camp, Sinwar remained in jail for 22 years
Sinwar's full name was Yahya Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar. He was born in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in the southern area of the Gaza Strip. Yahya's parents were from Ashkelon. When Israel was established in 1948 and thousands of Palestinians were expelled from their ancestral homes, Yahya's parents also became refugees.
Sinwar was arrested in 1989 for the kidnapping and murder of two Israeli soldiers and four Palestinians. Yahya was 19 years old at that time. The case went on. He was later sentenced to four life terms.
However, Sinwar was also released in 2011 during an exchange of more than 1,000 prisoners in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. By then Sinwar had spent about 22 years in jail.
