Begged for life, disguised as a woman… Who is Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar, who was blown up by Israel?

The Israeli army, which has killed more than half of the Hamas terrorists, said on Thursday that it has sent three more Hamas terrorists to hell during an operation in Gaza. One of them is Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar, to confirm his death the Israeli army conducted a DNA test, which was preserved by Israel while he was kept in jail. Sinwar's death has been confirmed by Israeli PM Netanyahu. Sinwar was made the chief of Hamas after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. At the time of Haniyeh, he was Gaza chief and Hamas deputy. He spent 22 years in jail for the massacre and kidnapping of Israeli soldiers. Having spent most of his life in refugee camps, he harbored tremendous anger and revenge against Israel. Sinwar was the brain behind the unprecedented attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. On his request, Iran and Hezbollah helped with weapons and money.

Ismail Haniya was killed in a very dangerous mission by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad in Tehran. After which Yahya (Ibrahim Hassan) Sinwar was appointed the head of Hamas. It is said about Sinwar that he was very dangerous and had criminal tendencies. Experts in the matter say that Sinwar was behind the continuous disruption in the ceasefire with Israel, because he hated Israel and was not in favor of the ceasefire under any circumstances.

Begged for life by using hostages as shields

In recent days, when the Israeli army was selectively targeting Hamas terrorists, Sinwar, out of fear, used the hostages as a shield and begged Israel for his life. He also requested the Israeli army to let him and his companions go to a third country in exchange for the release of the hostages. According to Israeli media reports, Sinwar also lived among the common people in Gaza for a few days in the guise of a woman. He feared that the IDF was constantly targeting the tunnels and that he could be killed at any time.

Born in refugee camp, spent 22 years in Israeli prison

Sinwar was born on 29 October 1962 in Khan Yunis refugee camp in Gaza. Her family was displaced from Ashkelon during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. This is the reason why he had hatred towards Israel. From an early age spent in a refugee camp, he began to oppose the Israeli occupation. Soon he joined Hamas. Sinwar earned a degree in Arabic studies from the Islamic University of Gaza.

Sinwar founded Majd, a unit of Hamas, in the late 1980s, the purpose of which was to identify and eliminate Palestinians who supported Israel. Terrorist activities led to his arrest in 1988 for plotting the kidnapping and murder of two Israeli soldiers. Sinwar was sentenced to life in prison, but was released in 2011 in an exchange deal for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

Mastermind of the attack on Israel on October 7

Yahya Sinwar was the mastermind of the terrorist attack on South Israel on October 7 last year, where more than 1200 people lost their lives. During that time Sinwar was appointed as the chief in Gaza. He held several meetings with the top leaders of Iran and Hezbollah. According to Israeli media, he had planned to attack Israel in January 2022, but due to not getting timely help from Iran and Hezbollah, he had to postpone the plan. Sinwar had sought arms and financial help from Iran and Hezbollah. He had assured that he would not let the money given by them go to waste and would teach Israel a strong lesson. In the attack that took place on October 7, more than 5,000 missiles were fired from Gaza at Israel within 20 minutes. After this, Hamas terrorists entered the Israeli border and massacred extensively. 350 people were murdered at a music festival. Apart from this, 250 people were kidnapped. Hamas still has more than 100 Israeli hostages.
