There was a decline in the stock market today i.e. on 16th October. Sensex closed at 81,501 with a fall of 318 points. Nifty also fell by 86 points, closing at 24,971.
Today the biggest decline was seen in IT and auto shares. There was a rise in financial services and realty shares. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 25 saw a decline and only 5 stocks saw a rise.
Mixed business in Asian market
- There was mixed trading in the Asian market. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index closed down 0.16%. Whereas China's Shanghai Composite Index rose by 0.05%.
- On October 15, the US Dow Jones fell 0.75% to 42,740 and the Nasdaq fell 1.01% to 18,315. The S&P 500 also slipped 0.76 to close at 5,815.
- According to NSE data, foreign investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹1,748 crore on October 15. During this period, domestic investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹ crore.
