Delhi Anti Dust Campaign: Delhi government seems to be in action mode to reduce pollution. In this series, under the anti-dust campaign, Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Monday conducted a surprise inspection of the project site of the sports complex in Pitampura. During inspection, irregularities related to dust control were found at the construction site. Regarding this, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) was instructed to impose a fine of Rs 50,000 on the construction company Tewatiya Construction Private Limited.

Along with this, instructions have also been given to impose financial penalty on daily basis for not giving satisfactory reply to the notice issued by DPCC. The Environment Minister said that it is necessary to implement 14 rules of dust control on construction sites. Action will be taken against those who violate this. Officials have been instructed to continuously inspect construction sites.

'Claim of 34.6 percent reduction in pollution'
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that due to the strict steps taken by the Delhi government, air pollution in Delhi is continuously improving. During this, he claimed that in the last 9 years, there has been a reduction of 34.6 percent in Delhi's air pollution. To deal with the problem of pollution during winter season, a Winter Action Plan based on 21 focus points was announced on 25 September. To further improve air pollution in Delhi, an anti-dust campaign has been launched for the next one month from October 7 under the Winter Action Plan.

'523 teams from 13 departments deployed'
Gopal Rai said that under the anti-dust campaign, 523 teams of 13 departments have been deployed for monitoring across Delhi. It has been made mandatory for all construction sites more than 500 square meters to register themselves on the C&D portal. All departments have been instructed to inspect C&D sites and take action against violations of the 14 construction guidelines issued at construction sites.

'Anti dust campaign started'
85 Mechanical Road Sweeping (MRS) machines and 500 water sprinklers have been deployed to prevent dust pollution. Anti dust campaign has been started to control dust at construction sites in Delhi. Under the same, after inspection, Gopal Rai said that environmental rules are not being followed properly at the construction site. Due to violation of dust control rules, DPCC was directed to issue penalty notice to the concerned agency. Instructions have been given to impose financial penalty on daily basis for not giving satisfactory reply to the notice.

It is necessary to implement 14 rules
The minister said that it is necessary to implement 14 construction rules at all construction sites. For this, instructions have been issued to the departments to continuously monitor the construction sites. Appropriate action will be taken by the department if rules are violated at construction sites.

• For not registering on the C&D portal, a fine of Rs 1 lakh will be imposed on construction projects with an area of ​​less than 20,000 square meters and Rs 2 lakh on construction projects with an area of ​​more than 20,000 square meters.
• For not installing anti-smog gun, a fine of Rs 7,500 per day will be imposed.
• For not taking dust suppression measures at construction sites, a fine of Rs 7,500 per day will be imposed on construction projects with an area of ​​less than 500 square meters and Rs 15,000 per day on construction projects with an area more than that.
• Vehicles carrying construction material are required to be covered, if violated a fine of Rs 7,500 will be imposed.
