A Jamaat leader was killed in an attack by opponents


A Jamaat leader named Sirajul Islam Majhi (55) was killed in an attack by opponents over a land dispute in Shariatpur Damudya.

The incident took place in Madhya Sidya area of ​​Sidya Union of Upazila on Wednesday (October 16) morning. The deceased is Baitulmal secretary of Sirajul Sidya Union Jamaat and son of deceased Nuru Bux Majhi.

According to police and local sources, the dispute with Sirajul Islam over the land of his nephew Jahangir Majhi has been going on for a long time. On Wednesday morning, the two sides first argued and later fought over the matter. It is alleged that Jahangir Majhi's son Sharif Majhi attacked Sirajul with an iron rod. At one stage, Sirajul fell to the ground. He was rescued and taken to Vedarganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead.

In this regard, Damudya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman Manik said, police have been sent to the spot after receiving information. The body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem. Legal action is pending.
