The Supreme Court has refused to stay the ongoing voting for Panchayat elections in Punjab. The Supreme Court said that there is a danger of anarchy if the voting for Panchayat elections, which started at 8 am today, is banned.
The Supreme Court said that tomorrow someone will put forward a demand to ban the parliamentary elections. We will list this matter, but there will be no ban on voting.
It is noteworthy that more than a thousand petitions were filed in the Punjab-Haryana High Court on the subject of ward closure, voting of the same family in different wards and NOC. However, by rejecting all the petitions, the court has cleared the way for Panchayat elections in Punjab. Also, the ban imposed on elections of 270 Panchayats last week was lifted. However, the court has accepted the demand for videography of elections in some petitions. After this, Panchayat elections were held in Punjab today (15 October).
