Commerce Bank Managing Director (MD) Tajul Islam has resigned. He submitted his resignation in the meeting of the board of directors of the bank last Monday. Before that, he withdrew all the money from his bank account. This has been confirmed by Commerce Bank sources.
Bank Chairman Ataur Rahman denied the MD's resignation to Prothom Alo. He is a former Central Bank official. Commerce Bank is one of the banks owned by S Alam Group. After the fall of the Awami League government, Bangladesh Bank deregulated the bank from S Alam.
