10 people died in 3 districts due to floods


Personal Correspondent: 10 people died in the flood in three districts of the northeastern part of the country. Among them, 8 people died in Sherpur district and 2 people died in Mymensingh. Among those who died, 8 were men and 2 were women.


KM Ali Reza, additional secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, gave this information at the secretariat on Wednesday (October 9).


Stating that 2 lakh 38 thousand 391 people have been affected by the flood, he said that the flood situation is gradually improving. The number of flood affected districts is three (Sherpur, Mymensingh and Netrakona). 13 upazilas were flooded and 73 affected unions or municipalities.


Ali Reza said that a total of 63 thousand 171 families are watertight in three districts. The number of affected people is 1 lakh 38 thousand 391 people.


He further said that a total of 140 shelters have been opened to shelter the people affected by waterlogging and the shelters currently house a total of 1,337 people and 561 cattle. A total of 20 medical teams are in operation to treat the victims in three districts.
