The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is not sure about the current whereabouts of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his family members.
Akhter Hossain, director general of the organization (resistance), told Jago News on Monday (October 14), that we have learned from media sources that Benazir Ahmed is absconding. But we don't know his real location.
Meanwhile, the ACC filed a case against five people including Benazir on the charge of passport forgery. Apart from Benazir, the other four are top officials of the passport department.
When asked about his return to the country, Akhtar Hossain said that a case has been filed. Now the inquiry officer will be appointed. The Investigating Officer shall do whatever is necessary in the case.
When asked why Benazir took a normal passport despite being a government official, the Director General of ACC said, “We do not know for what purpose or reason Benazir Ahmed concealed his identity.” The investigation officer will try to find out this matter during the investigation of the case.
Former Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed and his family members are in hiding after the information of making thousands of crores of wealth through corruption came to light last April. The ACC is investigating corruption allegations against the family.
