Chinese Prime Minister Li Kiang will inaugurate Gwadar International Airport during his visit to Pakistan this week. Pakistan's Information Minister Ayatollah Tarar gave this information on Sunday. Qiang is arriving in Pakistan on Monday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on October 15-16.

Gwadar Airport is built in Balochistan province. It is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. China has funded it. Its inauguration was scheduled to take place on August 14 this year. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was about to launch it with Chinese officials. But then this plan was canceled due to Baloch movement.

Gwadar will be Pakistan's biggest airport There was a deal between China and Pakistan regarding Gwadar Airport in 2015. Work on this started in the year 2019. China has spent 246 million dollars (about 2000 crore Indian rupees) to build this airport.

Gwadar Airport is spread over about 4 thousand acres. There will be only one runway on it. It has been used for domestic and international flights. Big planes like America's Airbus can also be landed here. Apart from China, Pakistan has also built airports in Nepal, Cambodia, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit is going to be held in Pakistan on 15-16 October. A meeting of Pakistani officials was held on Sunday (13 October) regarding its preparations. According to the report, in this meeting a decision is being taken to close the capital Islamabad for the summit.

Actually, the government of Pakistan is worried about the violent demonstrations and political unrest by PTI workers. Shehbaz Sharif does not want the protests during the summit to worsen the security situation and tarnish the image of the country.

India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will also participate in this summit. Apart from him, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and heads of other countries will attend the summit.

Terrorist attacks increase concern before the summit Before the start of the summit, 2 terrorist attacks have taken place in Pakistan. This has raised questions regarding security arrangements. The first attack took place on 6 October near Karachi Airport. Two Chinese citizens were killed in this attack. On this, China demanded strict punishment to the criminals.

The second attack took place on October 11 on a private coal mine in Balochistan province. 20 people died in this. According to Pakistani media Dawn, the attackers used many modern weapons including rockets and hand grenades.
