The Canadian government sent a message to India on Sunday that Indian Ambassador Sanjay Kumar Verma and some diplomats are suspects in the investigation of a case. It is not yet clear in which case they are suspects, but it is being linked to Nijjar's murder.
The Indian Foreign Ministry has described Canada's allegations as politically motivated. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Government of India completely rejects these absurd allegations and considers the reason behind them to be the political agenda of the Trudeau government, which is inspired by vote bank politics.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar was murdered on 18 June 2023. In September, the Canadian PM had accused India of this murder.
The Foreign Ministry said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had made some allegations in September 2023. However, the Canadian government has not shared a single evidence with the Indian government despite asking several times. This new allegation has also been made in a similar manner.
The Foreign Ministry said that the Trudeau government has been doing this for a long time. His cabinet includes individuals who are associated with extremist and separatist agenda against India.
PM Trudeau had accused India of killing Nijjar On the evening of June 18, 2023, Nijjar was shot dead while leaving a Gurudwara in Surrey city of Canada. On September 18 last year, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau had accused the Indian government of involvement in Nijjar's murder, which India rejected.
After this, on May 3, three accused of Nijjar's murder were arrested. All three accused are Indians. Canadian police said that the police had been keeping an eye on them for several months. They believe that India had assigned them the task of killing Nijjar. Then India had said on this matter that it is an internal matter of Canada.
PM Trudeau claimed to have met PM Modi Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday said he met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Laos. Trudeau said that during this meeting, discussions were held to work on important issues.
“I emphasized that we have some work to do,” Trudeau said at a press conference in Laos. Trudeau declined to provide further details about the conversation.
However, according to Indian media house NDTV, sources in the Ministry of External Affairs had denied this meeting and said that no such meeting took place between the two leaders.
