Death of former Chhatra League leader Panna while fleeing to India


Former General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Ishaq Ali Khan Panna died while fleeing to India. He died while climbing Shillong Hills in Meghalaya at midnight on Friday (August 23) after entering India.

A relative of Panna, who did not wish to be named, confirmed the death. He said that after the fall of the Awami League government, Panna wanted to hide for several days and escape to India. He crossed the border and climbed a hill in Meghalaya's capital Shillong at 12 midnight on Friday. He fell ill while trying to cross the mountain and died.

There are conflicting accounts of how Panna died. Some say he slipped and died while climbing the mountain.

Panna had a close relationship with a member of the advisory council of Pirojpur district Awami League. The Awami League leader said that he had a phone conversation with Panna three days ago. According to the information given by him, they came to know through various channels that Panna entered India through Tamabil border in Sylhet. He died on the other side. They could not be sure whether it was due to the bullet or heart disease. His body is in a police station on the Indian side of the border.

Panna's nephew and Kaukhali's Chirapar Saturia Union Parishad Chairman Laekuzzman Mintu Muthofon said, 'I heard the news of his death. I cannot say for sure how he died. But it is certain that he went to India on the way to Sylhet.'

However, a local Awami League leader said that Aminul Islam Amin, the relief and social welfare secretary of the recently deposed Awami League, was with Panna while fleeing to India. When Panna had a stroke, the Awami League leader left him and ran away. Later the local BSF personnel rescued him and took him dead to the local hospital.

However, Ishaq Ali Khan Panna confirmed the fact that he died if no one can say for sure how he died.

Ishaq Ali Khan Panna was in hiding since the Prime Minister resigned and left the country on August 5. On that day, the miscreants vandalized and set fire to his house on Parerhat Road in Pirojpur. Panna built a two-storied building at his ancestral home in Pirojpur. There is vandalism. One of his brothers is in the house but has been in hiding since the fall of the government.

Ishaq Ali Panna is the son of Haji Neshab Ali Khan of Bekutia village of Chirapara Parasaturia Union of Kaukhali Upazila of Pirojpur. However, he does not travel much to the village house.

On April 24, 2016, Ireen Parveen Bandhan, wife of Ishaq Ali Panna, died of cancer at the age of 45. Irene was Deputy Secretary to Government and VP of Dhaka University Shamsunnahar Hall. After the death of his wife, Panna did not marry again. The couple has a son named Eftesham Aftari Ariyan. However, the child is said to be adopted.

Ishaq Ali Panna was elected General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League in 1994 conference. 2012 Awami League Central Sub-Committee Co-Editor. He is a member of Pirojpur District Awami League. Ishaq Ali Khan Panna Pirojpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology was a syndicate member. Panna was nominated by Awami League from Pirojpur-2 constituency in the 2008 elections. Later he had to leave due to 14-party coalition elections. The former Chhatra League leader was the chairman of insurance company Diamond Life Insurance Company Limited in his professional life.

Sylhet's Gwain Ghat Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Harun Or Rasid said that they do not have any information about his death.
