Veteran journalist Swapan Kumar Bhadra was killed by miscreants in front of his house in Mymensingh. He was killed by drug-addicted miscreants in Tanpara area of ​​Mazhipara, Shambhuganj around 11 am on Saturday. The deceased Swapan Kumar Bhadra (65) is the vice-president of Tarakanda Press Club. He was previously the Tarakanda upazila representative of Dainik Swajan published from Mymensingh. At present, although he does not work directly in the media, he regularly writes about various events and issues in the area on social media.

The family members of the deceased alleged that the veteran journalist was killed for writing. He was also attacked a year ago. Following the complaint of the family, the police arrested a young man named Sagar Mia (18).

Jewel Bhadra, the nephew of the deceased Swapan said that his uncle (Swapan Bhadra) was sitting in front of his house on Saturday morning. At that time, the miscreants attacked him and beat him on the head. The left wrist is severed. Hearing the screams of his wife Savita Dhar, local people came forward and took Swapan Kumar to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a bloody state where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Safiqul Islam Khan said that the accused is known as a drug addict in Sagar area. There are also allegations of anti-social activities against him at various times. Police are investigating the reason for this murder or whether there is anyone else behind it.
