As a result of this, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister on August 5. An interim government was formed soon after he resigned.

The Muhammad Yunus-led government said no case had been filed for the 'July uprising' that lasted till August 8. The Ministry of Home Affairs of Bangladesh said that no one will be arrested or harassed in this incident.
