The government is considering establishing two projects to produce hydroelectric power

Arab Finance: The government has completed studies to establish two projects to produce electricity through hydroelectric power through pumping and storage systems with capacities of up to 2,000 megawatts, according to the East Economy.

The volume of investments in the two projects may reach $2.5 billion due to the technology used in them, adding that the studies included two sites, the first in Luxor Governorate and the second in Qena Governorate, with capacities divided into 1,000 megawatts for each.

The two projects will use water from the Nile River, in contrast to the pumping and storage project in Jabal Ataka, which will use sewage treatment water, with capacities of up to 2,400 megawatts.

The Ministry of Electricity is also seeking to present the two projects to investors during the coming period, in light of the state’s tendency to reduce dependence on electrical energy produced from fossil fuels, and expand clean energies.
