The initiative aims to promote green transformation in Egypt, and is part of the Team Europe initiative. It is also consistent with development efforts in Egypt, and consistent with the objectives of the national platform of the “Novi” program, the axis of connection between water, food and energy projects, in order to enhance mitigation and adaptation efforts. The European Green Facility aims to support the policy dialogue organized between Egypt and the European Union in the areas of activities, water and green transformation. The initiative, which provides grants worth 7 million euros, also supports Egypt's efforts to combat climate change.
It is worth noting that Egypt and the European Union announced, last March, upgrading the level of relations to a strategic partnership, during the visit of the President of the European Commission to Egypt, where she signed with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi the political declaration to upgrade relations, and a financing package worth 7.4 billion euros, to support efforts.
