Arab FinanceThe Ministry of Industry and the International Labor Organization signed the document “Project to Strengthen the Supportive Environment for Productivity for Decent Work: Enhancing Productivity and Improving Working Conditions in the Main Industrial Sectors in Egypt,” according to statement cabinet.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport stated that the project aims to enhance productivity and improve working conditions in important sectors in the field of industry, represented by the marble sector by focusing on the Shaq Al-Tha’ban area, and the leather sector in the Leather City in Al-Rubiki. In addition, the project will undertake a preliminary evaluation. For conditions related to productivity and working conditions in the Egyptian furniture industry, he pointed out that the project will last for 3 years and will provide training programmes, consultations and technical support at the sectoral level and at the level of small and medium-sized companies, which will contribute to strengthening the capabilities of relevant local institutions in these sectors, especially the technology centers. affiliated with the Ministry of Industry, noting that the project is funded by the Italian government at a value of 2.5 million euros.

The Minister explained that this project is consistent with the general directions of the Egyptian state, as it is compatible with Egypt Vision 2023, the National Program for Structural Reforms 2021-2024, the National Strategy for Empowering Egyptian Women 2030, and the state’s direction and interest in developing medium, small and micro enterprises and encouraging the culture of entrepreneurship. The project also comes Within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, adding that the project includes a number of local agencies and institutions concerned with implementing the project in addition to the Ministry of Industry, which are the Ministries of Labour, Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, the Federation of Egyptian Industries, trade unions, the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises Development Agency, the Industrial Modernization Center and the Industrial Modernization Authority.
