Globeleq seeks to cooperate with the government in establishing a huge green hydrogen production project

Arab Finance: As part of his current visit to the British capital, London, Engineer Hassan Al-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, held an expanded meeting with officials of the British company Globeleq, which works in the field of renewable energy, with the participation of Mr. Paolo De Michelis, CEO of the company, and Mr. Matteo Cappilli.

Globeleq is considered one of the largest investors in the field of renewable energy on the continent of Africa, and it has important investments in Egypt, the most prominent of which is the solar energy project in the Benban region. In addition to signing a memorandum of understanding to produce green hydrogen in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The meeting discussed pumping new investments into the British company, which is funded by the British International Investment Corporation (BII), the investment arm of the British government, in the Egyptian market, as well as on the African continent.

The company also seeks to expand its investments in various fields of renewable energy, and to cooperate with the Egyptian government in establishing a huge project to produce green hydrogen.

It should be noted that Globeleq began its investments in Egypt in 2003, and began working in the field of renewable energy in Egypt since 2014.

The meeting discussed the company's interest in expanding its investments in the field of generating energy from wind, and establishing water desalination plants using renewable energy, in addition to other projects aimed at reducing dependence on liquefied gas imports to reduce the import bill. The company also expressed its desire to submit offers for smart transportation projects using clean energy in Egypt.
