Jinjiram water is above Bipatseema, at Jamalpur


Dhaka: The flood situation in Mymensingh division due to heavy rains and landslides has improved in three districts, but there is no good news in Jamalpur. As the water of Jinjiram is still flowing over the boundary, the people of the lower parts of the district are living water-logged lives.

However, there is a sign of improvement in the situation in the next three days.

The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center of the Water Development Board (PUBO) reported this information on Saturday (October 12).

Sardar Uday Raihan, executive engineer of Paubo, said that the water level of the Brahmaputra river in Rangpur division is stable and the water level of the Yamuna river downstream is increasing and flowing below the flood limit.

The water level of river Ganga in Rajshahi division is decreasing and the water level of river Padma in its downstream is stable and flowing below Vipatseema.

The water level of Surma and Kushiara rivers in Sylhet division is receding and flowing below the boundary line.

The water level of Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in Rangpur division is increasing, while the water level of Teesta river is stable and flowing below the flood limit.

Other major rivers of Sylhet division – Manu and Dhalai rivers are increasing in water level, Khoai river water level is stable, while Sarigoine and Jadukata rivers are decreasing in water level and flowing below the biphasic limit.

The water level of the Someshwari, Bhugai-Kangs and Jinjiram rivers in Mymensingh division is receding, and the Jinjiram river is flowing over the watershed at Goalkanda point in Jamalpur district. On the other hand the water level of the old Brahmaputra river is stable, and flows below Vipatseema. The flood situation in the lower areas of Jamalpur district under Jinjiram river basin may continue to improve in the next three days.

Besides, major rivers in and around Dhaka district – Buriganga, Tongi Canal, Turag and Balu are stable and flowing below the Bipatseema.

The water level of Feni river in Chittagong division is stable, on the other hand, the water level of Gomti and Muhuri rivers is decreasing and flowing below the flood limit.

The water level of Matamuhuri and Sangu rivers is stable, while the water level of Halda river is decreasing and flowing below the flood line. There is no possibility of flood situation in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachari districts at this time.

Meanwhile, the water level of the coastal rivers of Barisal, Khulna and Chittagong divisions is also stable.
