This entire incident was captured in CCTV. This incident of theft took place in broad daylight. According to reports, the crown was stolen when the temple priest Dilip Mukherjee went out. Later the cleaning staff told that mother's jewelery was not there.
Inspector Taijul Islam of Shyamnagar police station said that CCTV footage of the temple has been obtained to identify the thief. The stolen jewelery held significance for the devotees. Jeshoreshwari Temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Mother Goddess. The theft has taken place at a time when Navratri is going on.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has expressed grief over the incident and the Bangladeshi administration has asked for an investigation into the incident. The High Commission said that the Government of Bangladesh should investigate the matter and arrest the accused. The High Commission said that strict action should be taken against the person who stole the crown.
