The golden crown of the statue gifted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stolen from the historic Sri Sri Jashoreswari Kalimandir in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. The scene of the theft of the crown was caught on Thursday afternoon, October 10, on the temple's CCTV cameras. In the footage, a young man is seen stealing the crown. Meanwhile, his identity is also being identified by the police. The army is also conducting operations in the field.

On March 27, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Bangladesh, placed the gold crown on the idol of Maa Kali while performing puja at the Jashoreswari Kali temple. According to local sources, after the pooja on Thursday afternoon, priest Dilip Kumar Banerjee handed over the keys to Rekha Rani Sarkar, the servant of the temple and went home. CCTV footage showed that a 24/25-year-old youth entered the temple at 2:49 pm and within moments stood behind the Kali idol, took off the crown and ran away. Locals believe that the young man has planned the act.
