Although Boeing's 737-800 aircraft has the facilities to deal with such technical problems, the pilot did not consider it right to take the risk and decided to land the plane at Tiruchirappalli airport. Instead of landing the plane immediately, the pilot acted wisely and kept the plane in the air over Tiruchirappalli city for about two and a half hours. This reduced the aircraft's fuel and reduced the possibility of its overflowing. However, to deal with emergency situations, manual undercarriage was deployed on the runway so that if there was a failure in the hydraulic system and the aircraft's wheels failed to open, the aircraft could be landed safely using the undercarriage present on the runway.
The pilot had informed the airport authorities about the situation, after which there was chaos at the airport. Several fire brigade and ambulance vehicles were deployed on the runway to deal with any emergency. As soon as the plane landed safely at Tiruchirapalli Airport at around 8.15 pm, the 140 passengers on board as well as the Airport Authority officials heaved a sigh of relief. The pilot's wisdom is being praised a lot on social media also.
