Personal Correspondent: Fish and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar said that the price of eggs has increased due to hand shifting and extortion.
He said this at the Krishibid Institute in the capital on Friday (October 11).
Fisheries and Livestock Adviser said, due to the syndicate, the egg market has to gain momentum to be controlled. The main reason for the increase in the price of eggs is the syndicate.
He said many farms in the country have been destroyed due to floods. It takes some time for these farms to go into production. All in all, supply is a problem.
Farida Akhtar said that the government is working with all the issues in mind. Regular raids are going on in the market. Already the wholesale price is decreasing. The price will come soon.
He said, to increase the production of eggs, rural women should be encouraged to keep poultry. Earlier they reared poultry and sold eggs to wholesalers in the village. That situation should be brought back again.
The advisor also said that the consumption of eggs decreases during Ramadan. Therefore, cold storage should be thought of in light of demand and not stock. Besides, eggs should be declared as essential food.
