Taiwan President Lai Ching Te has warned the People's Republic of China on the occasion of National Day on Thursday. Addressing a crowd of thousands of people, he said that China has no need to represent us at the global level. We will always stand firm to protect our sovereignty. Lai Cheng Te, who assumed the throne of Taiwan's President in May this year, said in his speech that China and Taiwan are not subordinate to each other. Democracy is flourishing on this land of Taiwan. Our people do not need representation from a dictatorial government, nor does the PRC have the right to do so.

He said that as President of Taiwan, my mission is to unite the 23 million people of Taiwan. I will fully abide by my promise to oppose any occupation or encroachment on our sovereignty. But we are committed to maintaining peace across the Taiwan Strait. For the benefit of the peoples on both sides, we also stand ready to work with the People's Republic of China to address climate change, combat infectious diseases, and maintain regional security to advance peace and mutual prosperity for the good .
The world expressed confidence, now China should fulfill its duty
