A fisherman died due to lightning while fishing in netrakona. The deceased is Tanveer Mia (19), son of Gholam Mostafa of Gachikhai village of Khaliajuri upazila. Two others were injured in the incident.
According to police and local sources, three people along with Tanveer went fishing in neighboring Yarrabaz Howrah on Thursday night. At about 1:30 a.m., the lightning struck. Meanwhile, Tanveer was injured. Two people with him were seriously injured. The fishermen from the nearby boat saw the matter and rescued them and took them to the hospital where the doctor on duty declared Tanveer dead. The other two were admitted to the hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khaliajuri Police Station. Maqbul Hossain confirmed the information of the deceased.
In this regard, Khaliajuri upazila executive officer. Shaha Alam Miah (A.D.) said that financial assistance will be provided to the families of the deceased and the injured.
