Foreign Minister Jaishankar had said that the era of talks with Pakistan is over.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will visit Pakistan on 15-16 October. He will attend the SCO Heads of Government (CHG) meeting in Islamabad. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal gave this information on Friday (October 4). This will be the first time in the last 9 years that an Indian minister will visit Pakistan.

In the press conference of the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaiswal was asked whether Jaishankar's visit is an attempt to improve India-Pakistan relations. To this he replied that India is committed to the SCO charter. This is the reason for the visit of the Foreign Minister. No other meaning should be taken from this.

Actually, Pakistan had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the SCO meeting on August 29. Pakistan's Foreign Department spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch had said that invitations have been sent to the heads of all member countries to participate in the meeting.

The foreign ministers of both the countries were sitting at a distance of 1 feet. Foreign ministers of all eight SCO member countries were present in the July 2022 meeting. Jaishankar met foreign ministers of 7 countries on the sidelines of the summit, but ignored Bilawal. When the Uzbek President hosted a dinner for all the foreign ministers, Bilawal and Jaishankar sat separately.

Jaishankar talked to everyone except the Pakistani Foreign Minister. Even during the group photo, there was not more than 5 feet distance between the two. Here all the foreign ministers joined hands, but Jaishankar and Bilawal stood separately.
