For an hour… Chaos in Japan flight due to playing of adult film; There is no option to turn it off

During the journey, passengers often like to watch movies to pass the time in flight. However, for the passengers going to Japan, the film being played in the flight became a disaster for them. Passengers on a Qantas flight from Sydney Australia to Haneda, Japan were left shocked when an adult movie played on all in-flight screens due to a technical glitch, reportedly. This incident happened on flight QF59. During this period, passengers, especially families traveling with children, had to face a lot of problems. The 2023 film 'Daddy' started being shown in the flight and no option was given to stop it.

This R-rated film starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn contains sexual content and several scenes of nudity. R – i.e. Restricted category certificate is given to those films which contain adult material and are prohibited for children below 17 years of age to watch without family. One traveler wrote about the experience on Reddit, “It was impossible to pause, turn down the volume, or turn it off. The worst part was that the movie was extremely pornographic.” He said it took him about an hour to change the second film. Another passenger said, “It was very uncomfortable for everyone, especially the families and children on board the plane.”

The airline apologized

The company acknowledged the incident and said that due to a technical glitch in the in-flight entertainment system, passengers were not able to choose individual movies. According to the New York Post, the airline said crew members tried to solve the problem by asking passengers about their favorite movies. When it was discovered that the film was not suitable for all audiences, crew members tried to fix the passengers' screens.” In a statement to news.com.au, a Qantas spokesperson apologized for the incident. The spokesperson said, “The film was clearly not suitable for everyone. We sincerely apologize to customers for this experience.” He further said that they are investigating how the film was selected.
