The announcement of winners for the Nobel Prize 2024 has started from today i.e. Monday, October 7. Today the Nobel Prize has been announced in the field of Medicine or Physiology. The Nobel Prize for Medicine of 2024 has been awarded to Victor Ambrose and Gary Ruvkun. He has been given this prize for the discovery of micro RNA (ribonucleic acid).
MicroRNAs reveal how cells in the body are formed and function. Both geneticists discovered micro RNA in 1993. Human genes are made up of DNA and RNA. Micro RNA is part of basic RNA.
It has evolved in the genomes of multicellular organisms over the last 500 million years. Till now, more than a thousand genes of different types of micro RNA have been discovered in humans.

From October 7 to October 14, the Nobel Prize will be awarded to people who have done excellent work in fields like science, economics, literature and peace.
These prizes are being given in Stockholm, Sweden. A cash prize of 11 million Swedish kronor i.e. approximately Rs 8.90 crore will be given in the Nobel Prize.
