Manindra Kumar Nath, vice-president of Bangladesh Puja Udjakar Parishad, said that they are appalled by the way threats are being made before Durga Puja. He said that this time they are afraid to celebrate Durga Puja with enthusiasm. Shekhar Chandra Goldar, one of the leaders of Hindu organizations in Bangladesh, said that in this atmosphere of fear, many may not perform Durga Puja this year. Many have canceled Durga Puja due to threats.
Shekharchandra said, 'This year's puja is very much devoid of charm. Puja cannot be organized in many places this time. Several committees have decided not to perform puja. Due to threats, many have decided to stop cultural programs and music during Durga Puja.
There has been unrest in Bangladesh during Puja before. But this time the situation is completely different according to the leaders of the Hindu organization of Bangladesh and the organizers of the puja. Manindrakumar Nath said, “Muhammad Yunus's government has assured to provide all kinds of security during Puja this year. But still many are not convinced.'
A 'donation' of Rs 5 lakh has been threatened to perform puja at various places including Comilla. With this, the Islamist organization has also threatened that the idol will not be allowed to be sacrificed. More than 32 thousand Durga Pujas are supposed to take place in Lati year. But in the end, many people are still skeptical about whether a proper puja can be organized or not, he said.
In all this, the Ministry of External Affairs of India has given a message to Bangladesh. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the Indian government is very concerned about the minorities living in Bangladesh in the wake of several incidents. India expects the Bangladesh administration to ensure the security of minorities there.
