Durga Puja: Fears are increasing in Bangladesh, Hindus are 'threatened' by Islamist groups – bangladesh an Islamist groups threaten Hindus over durga puja

Only a few days left for the puja to begin. But fear and apprehension about puja in Bangladesh is increasing. It has been alleged that threats have been made regarding puja in Khulna and Mymensingh areas. An Islamist organization has warned the Hindus that idols cannot be sacrificed there. The police of Bangladesh and the government of Muhammad Yunus have assured a peaceful puja. The Yunus government has announced that several steps have been taken to ensure that Durga Puja can be celebrated in a festive atmosphere. Bangladesh Police IGP Moinul Islam also said that there will be adequate security during the puja.

But at this time the Hindus were again threatened. An organization named Insaaf Kemkari Chhatra-Janta has been accused of making this threat. They claimed that idols cannot be worshiped there and sacrifices cannot be given. Along with this, this organization also claimed that no holiday can be given during Durga Puja.

They protested in Dhaka with this demand. At that time they also opposed the puja with various placards. It is known that the placard read 'no puja everywhere by closing the road. Water pollution is not caused by idolatry. Not idol worship'. A procession has even been held saying that Durga Puja will be allowed to be held in a playground in Dhaka's Uttara area. They also said that they are against giving holidays during Durga Puja.

In the month of August, there was a political change in Bangladesh. It is also alleged that Hindus are being oppressed in different parts of Bangladesh after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina's government. However, the interim government has assured that Durga Puja will be held smoothly. It has also been informed that additional security arrangements will be made during the puja. However, the interim government has 'requested' Hindus to turn off the Durga Puja musical instruments and microphones during Namaz and Azaan.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh National Hindu Mahazot has demanded at least three days of public holidays during Puja. However, Insaf Kemkari students claim that there are only 2 percent Hindus in Bangladesh. So government holidays should not be given. Along with this, they have presented 16 point demands for restrictions on worship and desecration of idols. The organization also claimed that no Muslim should support Hindu festivals. They claim that various temples have been built by occupying a lot of land in Bangladesh. Those temples will be removed and returned.

They also claimed that since India is the 'national enemy' of Bangladesh, its Hindu citizens should also agree to be anti-India. For this reason, they also demand that anti-India banners and slogans should be kept in temples.
