New Delhi. India had to face defeat in its first match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. New Zealand defeated India by 58 runs. In this match played on Friday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, New Zealand's bowlers proved to be inferior to the Indian batsmen. Shefali Verma returned to the pavilion after scoring 2 runs. For the Kiwi team, Rosemary Mair took the maximum of 4 wickets while Lee Tuhuhu took 3 wickets.

Sophie Devine hits half century
Earlier, thanks to the half-century of captain Sophie Devine (57 runs), New Zealand women's team scored 160 runs for 4 wickets. For New Zealand, Georgia Plimmer contributed 34 runs and Suzie Bates contributed 27 runs.
